IGiggIt! Artist of the Month: Sharon Paquette

IGiggIt! Artist of the Month: Sharon Paquette

igiggit-artist-of-the-month-sharon-paquette

Hello IGiggIt children and welcome to the Artist of the Month blog for August. I’m delighted to announce that the artist we’re paying homage to for shiny August is Sharon Paquette!

What an astoundingly awesome singer she is too; she more than deserves to be artist of the month for her breathtaking track ‘Still Your Girl’ Her voice literally gives me goosebumps which, other than men in suits/uniforms and/or a sharp breeze, hardly ever happens.

On her bio, it’s says that Sharon’s work…

‘… has haunting melodies reminiscent of Evanescence and the grittiness of blues singer-songwriter Joss Stone, Sharon Paquette showcases a voice that exhibits rich tonal confidence. Her fresh and honest lyrics cut the soul and breathe new life into relevant themes of hope and perseverance’

And I agree! Except for the Joss Stone bit; to be honest, I think Sharon is in a class above Ms Stone if only for the sophistication of her vocals and the fact she doesn’t have to have her head surgically removed from her own sphincter region every morning.

Sharon has the book learnin’ to go with her awesome talent too… before pursuing her singing career, Sharon studied voice, classical singing, music theory, and composition at the University of Windsor. She later taught these things herself at a school in Ontario as well as tutoring song writing workshops.

So, we’ve established that she’s got an amazing voice, an awesome band, excellent technical abilities, writes beautiful lyrics and has a face so pretty it makes angels weep… why then is Sharon not at number one all over the world? Well, the music biz is a fickle mistress but we at IGiggIt have no doubt that Sharon will be a global superstar very soon.

Her tracks are available from her own website and on iTunes so it won’t be long a’comin!

Congratulations Sharon and please do keep providing us with your music; it’s like auditory crack so hook us up soon!

That’s it for now but don’t forget to tell your friends about IGiggIt and just how freakin’ wonderful we are… because we are.

I’ll be back soon with a review of one of our upcoming auditions so until then, let’s be tuneful out there kids, and let’s never eat yellow snow or play chicken with a real chicken; they’ll win every time. Also, never get into a stranger’s van unless the nice man offers you sweets or has a real cute puppy.

Sharon Paquette,

We want to personally congratulate you in having your song "I'm Afraid" placed in the SongVault Directory and in our play list on the SongVault Radio Network.

This is quite an accomplishment and something you should be proud of, considering that your song has been up against hundreds of other songs and has taken several months in order to pass through all the tiered stations.

This is not the end of the journey but just the beginning!

In a few weeks, your song will be on one of our podcast shows to help promote your song on iTunes and other podcast venues.

In 2008, we will be in contact with all the public radio stations to work on partnerships in order to help promote the artist that have made it in the SongVault. Other exciting benefits will be announced over the next year that will help you generate money and build a bigger fan base at the same time.

Dick Clark put it best when he said "Music is the soundtrack of our lives". The songs we like to listen to become part of our life in general.

Thank you for being part of our soundtrack and we look forward to helping promote you and your music further in the months and years ahead.

Best Regards,

Paul John

Sharon Paquette

Sharon Paquette (self-released)

Featuring an opera-ready throat trained at Ontario, Canada's University of Windsor, Sharon Paquette's four-song demo EP tries very hard to find the level of her own cited influences, Joss Stone and Evanescence. It pretty much succeeds, but to what end? Paquette's voice is rich and powerful, yes. Precision-guided, too, as on "I Won't Sleep Tonight," where she sings, "You cast a spell o'er me/ I find it easy to believe/ in fairy tales and rainbows/ You're my pot of gold." If she ever ends up getting cruelly ripped by Simon Cowell, I'll be pissed on her behalf. Let me know if it ever happens, because I always forget to watch that show.

Sharon Paquette's self titled album hits you right in the heart with a beautiful voice and powerful emotion. The melodies are pleasantly haunting and the touch of grit in Sharon's voice gives it a nice bluesy touch. The CD demonstrates the versatility in Sharon's vocals. From beautiful emotional acoustic tracks to higher energy rock tracks, her vocals are very impressive. The band backing Sharon's vocals on this CD is tight and professional, complementing her vocals very well. The production and recording quality are both excellent. Highlights are "I Won't Sleep Tonight," a love song with a powerful, harmonious vocal performance. "I'm Afraid" is a heavy and passionate song very reminiscent of Evanescence. "Good Things Are Gonna Happen" wraps it up nicely with a hopeful message and a sing-along chorus. If you enjoy adult pop/rock female vocalists, such as Sheryl Crow, you'll like this one.

Hi Sharon, hope you’re doing well and thanks again for your patience.

I had a listen to several of your songs, including some of the classical pieces (which I quite enjoyed) and your bio and photos were great. Your singing style is definitely diverse and most certainly will be an asset in your continued music career. In my opinion though, if you are planning on moving forward with one particular genre or style as an artist, your ballad, I Won’t Sleep Tonight really shows off your voice the best. Although I enjoyed the energy of your bluesy rock songs. You (the singer) and the I Won’t Sleep..song sound more unique and fresh.

All in all, I think you’ll do well in whatever direction you decide to take your music, showcase your energetic tunes and (I’m sure) performances and gain some valuable feedback. I’m not sure who you’ll be up against or what style of rock they will be hearing the most but it can’t hurt to try!

I wish you great success and happiness in your life and career and please, keep me posted!

Keep me posted

Sincerely,

Julie Wilson

SHARON PAQUETTE - "Sharon Paquette" EP

(Independent/2008)

There must be something being added to the water in North America ... so many of the world's best vocalists hail from beautiful Canada and Sharon Paquette is joining the line.

Originally from Windsor, Ontario - she was up until recently a music teacher in Toronto. She is now based in Las Vegas where she hopes will enable to make the leap to artist.

From the opening cut on this 4 track EP you can hear that Paquette has a vocal to be reckoned with. It's powerful and honest which is rare in music these days. She really feels what she's singing about. "Good Things Are Gonna Happen" possesses a real Alanis Morissette or Meredith Brooks twang (it must be something to do with the Canadian accent) while "I'm Afraid" features a strong resemblance to Evanescence's Amy Lee.

The real magic starts to happens on track three, "Your Girl", which features a less forced - more mainstream pop/rock vocal. It's evident that Paquette is more at ease with style of song and it suits her so well. She could give Suzie McNeil a real run for her money.

But it's the last track on the EP, "I Won't Sleep Tonight", which has won me over and converted me into a fan of this great young artist. While I was impressed to this point - this is THE style that Paquette should be channeling all her energies into. Forget the latest trend - this classic acoustic styled heartfelt ballad is all she needs to make it in the music world. There is an urgency in her voice that gives this song the power to reach out and grab your heart with both hands and really move you. It sends chills up your spine! This song shows me that Sharon Paquette will make it as an artist if she keeps going in this direction.

Overall a great debut EP ... I'll be keeping my eye on the charts for this great new artist sometime soon ... now I have to get "I Won't Sleep Tonight" out of my head!!

From out of nowhere I find a female vocalist that doesn't remind me of the two, or three stereotypical vocal styles that 95% of the female singers in the world attempt(and I'm being nice by saying "attempt") to emulate. Just wait until the rest of the world finds you! Considering that you also compose your own material, that time should be in the not-to-distant future.

Sharon,

I'm in love with powerful women speaking/singing their truth. Your music feels so deep, it resonates in my belly. I love it! It's the kind of music I go to when I need to be reminded of my power, depth and purpose as a woman--when I need to feel the raw, gritty, poetic beauty of it all! Your voice embodies so much of your experience, and my own--and for me that speaks volumes. Thank you for this. It's stunning and such a gift.... I love you.

I thoroughly enjoyed checking out your music and orginal songs. You have a wonderful, resonant tone full of emotion that expresses great feeling. I hear elements of Alanis, Evanesence, Tori Amos, Sarah Maclachlan, all wonderfully tied together. Maybe you'll be one of the next great women! I also enjoyed hearing your opera skills as well. Nothing better than an artist with a wide range. You remind me of how much I miss singing myself. I always appreciate a true artist. Good luck to you, my dear! May you hard work & devotion take you far.

I listened to your CD recently, and I am quite impressed! Beautifully
composed, great content, and of course the overall sound is great. I
enjoyed the range of genres that you incorporated, impressive in only
4 songs! Well done, I look forward to hearing more of your work.
